My wife, Sylvia, lost both arms after she broke them and the doctors in her country did not want to set her bones. I am trying to make some home improvements to provide her with a better quality of life and independence around the home.

What a wonderful thing your doing to help make her life easier and more productive. I do have one suggestion for you. Have you looked in craigs list for your area? I was checking our craigs list for my area and there were rows of carpenters and woodworkers, plumbers etc that are willing to work for low pay but also some would trade their work for something you have that they need. With the construction business on the skids the way it is craigs list is full of all kind of carpentry and plumber workers. All you have to do is just google craigs list for you area and you should get a good response. I wish you all the luck in the world and that you do get that kitchen completed for your wife. I need help. I am trying to remodel my kitchen for my wife who lost both arms above her elbows. Our 10x10' kitchen has plenty overhead storage that is out of reach for Sylvia. Much of the lower space that Sylvia needs is taken up by appliances. To open more storage below the counter I purchased a GE under sink dishwasher (GSM2260NNS). By moving the dishwasher under the sink I can increase accessible storage by 12 square feet.

I thought swapping the dishwasher would be relatively straight forward. I did not know I would have to relocate the plumbing a few inches left or right for the dishwasher to fit under the sink. I can move the cabinets but plumbing is beyond my skills and my funds are rather low at this point. Does anyone know of any agencies that help with this kind of work for disabled people or anyone in Hampton Roads, VA area who would be willing to help?
